
About Nanzan Dojo
Nanzan Dojo has been operating in South East Queensland since 2000 and is part of the Shisenkan International Kobudo Federation, a traditional Japanese martial art organisation led by Kancho Ron Kosen of the Shisenkan Honbu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan. Nanzan Dojo is a place to learn and practice Japanese Kobudo (old style martial traditions) under the instruction of Shinan Robert Tierney, 7th Dan, Australia’s most senior Shisenkan teacher. The following martial arts are taught at Nanzan Dojo:
Taijutsu (unarmed fighting)
Jujutsu (unarmed fighting)
Koppojutsu (bone strikes)
Koshijutsu (muscle strikes)
Ninjutsu (unconventional fighting) &
Buki* (weapons):
Bojutsu (staff weapons)
Kenjutsu (sword)
Naginata-jutsu (glaive)
Sojutsu (spear) &
Special weapons such as Shuriken (throwing weapons) and Hankyu (half bow)
*All weapons training is rank and age appropriate. Weapons training is generally taught openly in the Adult 18+ class, with some limitations applied to teenage students and significant restriction applied for the younger students.
