Do you teach real Japanese martial arts at your dojo?
Yes, we teach authentic traditional Japanese martial arts, called Kobudo, the same way it is taught in Japan. We also use the Japanese rank system of Kyu and Dan grades.

What martial arts do you teach at Nanzan Dojo?
At Nanzan Dojo, we teach Taijutsu (unarmed fighting), Koppojutsu (bone strikes), Koshijutsu (muscle strikes), Jujutsu (unarmed fighting), Ninjutsu (unconventional fighting) and weapon traditions.

What weapons do you teach and when can I learn these?
The weapons studied regularly at Nanzan Dojo includes Bojutsu (staff weapons), Kenjutsu (sword), Naginata-jutsu (glaive), and Sojutsu (spear), with other special weapons such as Shuriken (throwing weapons) and Hankyu (Half bow) practiced periodically.
Weapons are not taught to children, only to teens and adults. When old enough, students are taught traditional Japanese weapons from the beginning of there training.

Can I join Nanzan Dojo if I've studied other martials arts?
Yes, you can join Nanzan Dojo with our without previous martial arts experience.

Do I need any previous martial arts experience to join training at Nanzan Dojo?
No experience is necessary to start martial arts training at Nanzan Dojo. With or without previous martial arts experience you are welcome to learn and practice with us.

There are heaps of martial arts styles to learn, why should I train at this dojo?
We teach Japanese Kobudo (traditional Japanese martial arts) at Nanzan Dojo, the same way it is taught in Japan. Our instructors have decades of martial arts experience from training and testing in Australia and Japan.

What are the costs?
The fees for training are:
Membership Application Fee on joining
Lesson Fee for classes
Grading Fee periodically when rank tested
Annual Membership Renewal - each year around February
Training Uniforms and Belts can also be purchased at the dojo

How do I join?
The process to join training is simple, come along for a trial, complete an application form and then come along to training regularly. Click on our Join page to get started.

Is there carparking available?
Yes, there is parking available at the dojo that you are welcome to use.
